A Greek start-up company is offering a repatriation bonus of €5,000 to €10,000 for Greeks wishing to return to their home country to work at its headquarters.

Transifex’s Chief Executive Officer Dimitris Glezos says that this initiative is more than just a relocation bonus.

“It’s an opportunity to help Greek computer engineers living abroad return to their homeland to take on a demanding role in a fast-startup startup like Transifex. We want to strengthen the talent potential in Greece.”

Dimitris Glezos founded Transifex in 2012 in Patras. In 2014, the company opened an office in Athens and Silicon Valley, California, to manage its sales, marketing, finance and other operations.

Today, Transifex employs 34 people, including 20 in Greece, occupying important positions as engineers, product and customer service managers.

According to the company’s forecasts, at least five software engineers will be hired in 2018, and in 2019 this number is expected to double.

According to Endeavor, an organization that promotes global entrepreneurship, 200,000 Greeks under the age of 35 have left the country between 2010 and 2013.

The report says nearly three out of four of the respondents hold postgraduate degrees and are highly skilled.
